I'm Tiago, a senior software engineer with 13+ years of experience, currently at PagerDuty in Lisbon.
I build distributed systems and work on LLM-based agents for incident response.
My current work on agentic AI covers orchestration, state and memory, tool integrations, and evaluation. I’ve built services for shared agent context and usage metering, and worked on how agent runs persist and resume.
Before that, I led backend work on PagerDuty Status Pages, from the initial design through launch and enterprise rollout.
How I work
I help define what to build, including product requirements, constraints, and operational needs. I write down the design and trade-offs, then break the work into pieces that can ship independently. Across teams, I look for what we can reuse, weigh building against buying, and agree on service interfaces with the engineers who’ll use them. I’ve also run setup calls with enterprise customers and written their configuration guides.
Background
I’ve worked in software engineering since 2011, at PagerDuty, Defined.ai, Truphone, BookedBy, and in consultancy.
I completed an MSc in Knowledge Management & Information Systems at ISCTE-IUL in 2018. I also have a Postgraduate Diploma and BSc in Computer Science from FCT-NOVA.

Outside work
I enjoy trail running and go hiking or trekking whenever I can. I also travel and play board and video games.
At home, I tinker with Home Assistant, Shelly devices, and home servers, including small electrical projects.
